Survived the night. Dog went into Warrior Mode about 8:30 PM so I suspect we have a 'visiting' raccoon again. Perhaps his stay can be short and leave tomorrow morning.

How many more nights to survive growler's voyeurism before hubby's back?

Re: And We're Off!
He's back now! Missed him but not all the coughing, sneezing and hacking that has been going on for a few days now!
But growler you are welcome to come and watch both of us!!

Re: And We're Off!
Yesterday I decided the front windows needed cleaning again. I was tired of looking around the spots from rains we've had lately. (It's the entire front wall of windows) Also finally painted coat one of the bathroom and helped hubby rig the sailboat. It really is a three person job but when you only have two, you become creative! So we hoisted and held the mast via a rope and pulley and tree conconction, put up the jib, main sail etc without incident. This morning I thought my right arm would be 'talking' to me from all the work it did yesterday, but so far, nothing. Hurray!

Re: And We're Off!
I thought today was going to be a very quiet day (translate boring) but instead it turned out to be FANTASTIC!! In the morning, four friends boated over with breakfast and in the afternoon, my cousins stopped in. We sat on the dock and chit chatted for hours. I am so blessed!!!!!!

Re: And We're Off!
I like quiet. Quiet to me is awesome, not boring! I don't get enough of it I guess. It's funny how we all are so different, which is good, because if we all were the same the world would be pretty boring.
I just find that the week days fly by so fast and are hectic, so I look forward to quiet time on the weekends.

Re: And We're Off!
We are at different stages in our lives RTuesday. In our week, there are six Saturdays and one Sunday. Sometimes we can remember which is which!!
Hubby and I love projects and we have a million. But every once in a while, we have to stop and smell the roses. That's when I worry. What will we do????
Every day we work on a project and as well, spend some time with friends and neighbours. Life is good!

Singing, dancing, sunbathing, drinking on the dock. Twenty two degrees. Very slight breeze. Does life get any better????

Re: And We're Off!
Switched the raccoon's menu from sardines to peanut butter on a cracker. It took the bait so this morning we had an early boat ride to Raccoon Island.

Hubby and his buddy are out sailing. A perfect day...one side of the island has some wind (our side) and the back bay area has a slight wind. They look like two little boys playing in the sandbox and having a blast.

Re: And We're Off!
So...our adventures continue.
My niece and her hubby (from London) are staying with us for a few days. As we sat at the harvest table enjoying a great salmon dinner and wonderful company, I pointed out that there was a beaver swimming by.
"A beaver?" My niece's hubby said. "That's not a beaver, that's a bear!"
Our dog, the mighty protector, took off to the shoreline to scare off the intruder. (I don't have the heart to tell him he'll lose....) A fisherman not far away heard our cries and the commotion. We ran back into the cottage, closed all the doors (and locked them too) and closed all the windows. A while later, the same fisherman returned to our dock area, signalled that he wanted us to come out to talk to him. OUTSIDE? Really? But we all trotted out. This guy was such a good samaritan. He saw the bear, followed it as best as he was able and saw the bear leave and swim away to the mainland. Turns out it was (only!) a bear cub about 150 pounds. Really? ONLY 150 pounds?
Such a sigh of relief to know he was gone. Our neighbour was at her cottage with her three young children. We called her immediately to take the kiddies inside. The fisherman said he hear their squeals of fun and worried about them too.
Enough excitement for one night. I couldn't finish dinner or my wine or eat dessert. Glad it's over and I'm off to bed.
