Crossing our fingers for a nice day tomorrow so we can move. Winds predicted to be about 15 knots NW so that's okay. I can handle the pontoon boat easily enough. We are towing the fishing boat to the marina, completely filled with stuff. Lots of stuff! Didn't think we'd have that much at all. Hubby will be out in the cold when he boats from the marina to the cottage. Poor guy but he's tough.
If hubby has his way, we will be up at five and out the door fifteen minutes later. LOL Not me! Regular routine please and leave by 9 AM. That's just fine!!!

Good luck. Hope the weather is tolerable. It's always colder out on the water.

Thanks Observer. We are prepared for the cooler temps with winter coats, gloves and warm touques. Learned the hard way, as usual!

Thanks Uncle Jack. Wouldn't you think that at 'this' age, we'd be somewhat less adventurous????

Talk about a glorious day! I drove the pontoon boat filled with stuff from home and hubby followed behind in his new fishing boat, also loaded to the gills. (Sorry, pun was perfect!) We wore our sunglasses and a light sweater. A most comfortable journey. As we approached the island, the wind picked up slightly but it was quite doable. Perhaps 15 km/hr. Tops.
After unloading and putting stuff away, I was almost too tired to eat dinner at 8 PM. (Thank you Zarky's!)
Lots left to do but not for today. I agree with you GF. Leave some for tomorrow. We got the new generator as far as the deck and parked it there for the night.
Still no running water. Maybe Saturday at this rate. Hubby is at the neighbour's watching the hockey game and I'm here with our dog. Awesome silence all around.

Sorry Growler, no hats. We live trap the coons and then take them to an uninhabitated island about ten to fifteen minutes away from us.
My hubby saw the video and claims he is completely innocent. He was quick to point out that my hair is quite blonde whereas the female in the video appears to have darker hair. I guess he's off the hook for now!!!

Another Kishgo Island Adventure....
Raccoon number five was caught today. Our plan, as always, is to relocate the creatures far away from us! So, we thought we'd drop off Raccy on our way to the marina, headed out to meet friends in Port Perry.
Leaving our dock and ten minutes out into the lake, we both commented that our motor sounded as if it was missing a cylinder and as we approached the drop off point on the deserted island, our engine stopped. Dead. Did I mention the winds that pushed our pontoon boat away from land? Oh yes, dead motor, a wind and a brave and fearless husband who paddled the boat close enough to the island shore, jumped out of boat, into the water (shoes, pants and all!) and unwrapped a boat line that had come loose and wrapped itself around the propeller, causing the motor to stop. On board, the raccoon and I watched. (Thank goodness Riley wasn't with us!!)
He kept his composure, hopped back into the boat, we released the raccoon and continued our journey to the marina. All the way to Port Perry, we kept the heat on very high to attempt to dry out his pant legs. An hour later, still damp, we arrived in Port Perry, slightly late. Our friends were still waiting and slightly worried. They didn't have our cell phone number and we left the cell phone in the cottage!
Many lessons learned today!

We have vhf on all the boats but our situation had to be decided quickly and we did. If we had been truly stranded and required emergency services, we would have called. My hubby is a CPS member.

Although we haven't had your experience CB, we made sure we had the training so that we were educated about boating. Hubby took weekly CPS courses for months with homework enough to make one think we were back in regular school again. He passed with flying colours (top of his class) and earned his flag. I have taken several boating courses as well, before and after acquiring boats. I have my licence too. We have rescued many stranded boaters. Some due to stupidity and some because it just happens. Just like car drivers. Many good apples and some rotten.
We only missed our cell phones to call our friends in PP who were waiting for us.

Another empty trap. Maybe the smell of sardines isn't enough to entice them.
