Edwardian Farm Empty Edwardian Farm

Post by Spidubic Thu Nov 29, 2012 9:25 am

If you like history and ever get a chance to watch Edwardian Farm it is a very interesting show. It is a historical documentary that was on the BBC a year or so ago. Three historians spend an entire year living and working on an Edwardian Era farm. I have to say it makes me appreciate what we have today. The farmers entire life was either sleeping or working. They had one day a year they actually got to have a day off. Talk about a tough life. Yet in a way when I was watching it I felt that they were better off than we are today. I would love to try that for even just a week though I know I would likely last a day. Smile

not sure i would enjoy it,but in some respects feel that was the way i lived my working years! not one day per year though, more like 25-30 days per year, if including travel time.
even when "relaxing" in florida, i spent 50% of my time "working for/with a customer at a part of his business, but as i got to spend time in the outdoors and talk to people who i would have never got to meet without taking part in this, i enjoyed it, but my bride didn't and still do'sn't understand it.
but as she got to spend any money i got paid everything worked out ok!
but the edwardian type of work would be all manual labor, that not many could/would enjoy to-day ? confused
