Hydro One is testing its new outage notification service.
Register today to receive emails or texts letting you know when the power’s out, when we’re on our way and when your power will be restored.
Customers can register for Hydro One Outage Notifications through their My Account login.
Got this email today --
1 I can tell when the hydro is out
2 I need hydro to run the computer and even the internet
Not sure why i am going to sign up

I like the reasoning of your email correspondent, retired. I suspect however, that those with high tech phones can still receive all those messages without hydro?????
