Respiratory illness advisory for NGH nursing home

SIMCOE - Outbreak precautions are in effect at The Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home due to a respiratory-like illness.

There are currently five residents showing two or more of the following symptoms; headache, cough, runny nose, fever, chills and sore throat.

The Resident Yard Sale, which was scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Other precautions include resident isolation, increased cleaning, signage, halt to activities and a freeze on new admissions and transfers.

Visiting is still permitted at this time, however, if you are feeling ill the staff asks you to stay at home.

Outbreak precautions will remain in effect until further notice. If family members have any immediate concerns about their loved one, please contact the Nursing Home at 519- 426-0130 Ext. 6972 or 6971.

Guests are remaindered to wash their hands at one of the many hand sanitizing stations available before entering the nursing home.

and if i just quit breathing that the others will be better off !
i guess i'm just a waiste of good oxygen !

but seriously it's not as bad as the press release would make you think.
i think 2 residents on main floor and 2 on upper.
but no mixing of floors until it subsides.
just a series of cold like symptoms.

i'm having no prob,s as long as i take my "drugs" , they call them meds (but i now hear voices all the time) and i enjoy that !
but i think cd98.9 wasn't thinking very clearly when they wrote the report, as one more came down with cold symptoms so the total now is 6 but only 3 are presntlel affected.
so it sounds worse but it is really better.
