Hey Observer ... what did you do with your old computer? If you still have it or have access to it, the pictures (and any other data ) can be saved from the old hard drive if the drive still works. I can get it for you if you like ... or any computer guy should be able to get it for you if you have someone you use.
Kishgo ... you have Outlook ... not Outlook Express, which is not available for Windows 7

Thanks rustee. Les at Delhi Computers tried to get stuff off the hard drive - but he says he couldn't get it; that the hard drive was dead! Said he did have an address in Toronto where it could be sent - for about $500!! - where they could TRY!
Is there anything else I should know?

Les should have been able to get it, but if the drive is dead, then the only alternative that I know of is one of those very expensive places. Unfortunately, not backing stuff up becomes a problem when this happens.
I'm sure Les did check this out and if he says it's dead ... it probably is. You can drop it here sometime if you like and I will look at it. No charge unless I can do some recovery for you!...

Re: it's broken.................!
I'm not working full time now growler, and probably never will again.
I'm working only by appointment now and this week I hardly worked at all.
My wife has been very sick all week, so I have stayed away from the shop.
I have a lot of stock and will dispose of it over time.

Sorry to hear of your wife's illness Rustee. Hope she feels better soon. Maybe the break in the heat today will help.

Agreed Rustee - hope your wife is feeling better.
Next time I'm coming to Simcoe, I may take you up on that offer and drop off the computer. Thanks.

Thanks gale ... she has been sick for the past week. We ended up at emerg for over 8 hours yesterday, but they put her on an IV and blood tests and found
she had an "infected blood that settled in her kidneys ... and very low Potassium". The IV helped some and the antibiotics and Potassium pills have helped her out also. She is somewhat better this morning, but still eating and drinking very little. I guess that will come as the meds kick in.
I've turned into a nurse ... and I'm not good at it. They earn every penny they make! I also became a shopper (which I'm not) and ran all over town getting some specials, and other chores.
Very lucky to have a large family (mostly girls) to help out.
We do have central air, but it couldn't be set very low for her ... she had the trembles

Re: it's broken.................!
I sympathize Rustee. Learning to handle chores that you didn't do previously can sometimes be a bit tricky. i agree that nurses deserve even more than they usually get - just wouldn't want to have to handle their jobs.
My sister in law is presently in hospital in the states. She was admitted with a suspected heart attack - which was changed to an infection in her gall bladder. At which point a drainage tube was inserted. Next step was a physician who wanted to put in a pace maker. After family objections and their demand for a second opinion from her normal heart doctor, she was transferred to a hospital where her heart doctor practiced. He in turn stated that if a pace maker had been installed it would have been fatal. Now they have determined that the antibiotic given for the gall bladder infection has caused another infection in her bowels. I can only guess that no one is infallible, including the doctors!!
No one even wants to think about the costs involved in her care. Makes me very grateful to live in canada!
