Apples appear to be the hardest hit, plums, peaches and nectarines yet to be determined. At least according to Global News.

Not to suggest that this is in any way as important as the fruit growing situation, but for the first time I can remember, I had irises that were in bud - and froze. The lilac is also not blooming very well.
I think it wasn't so much the warm winter - as the March summer!

Re: Paying for a warm winter?
We have lots of lilac trees and lillies too but in the two seasons we've been here, nothing has bloomed. I think the lack of sunshine on the plants is a factor. They are under a canopy of taller trees. Does that make sense? I can't think of another reason why there are no blooms.
Slightly off topic, sorry!

The lilies, I find, will practically lie on their sides to try to get to the sun. (the bulbs, I mean - not the day lilies). But this is the first year for so few blooms on the lilac.
