How will you do it? We know kishgo will be in Florida - as will gale force. It seems to me that it's rbw who also has a favourite Florida destination - but maybe not for the whole season like the first 2 mentioned. Is anybody a cold weather enthusiast? Looking forward to skidooing, or skiing - or whatever other DUMB thing people pass off as being enjoyable IN THE COLD?

Used to enjoy snowmobiling but the old body won't take it anymore. Still like snowblowing the driveway. Wife hates the cold but we never were ones to go away for an extended time.

Yes, I only go for 3 wks. normally in the spring [ Early Apr. ]That way I don't have to wait so long for spring when I get back.
I really have no reason to not stay longer [except for cost] but as my boy keeps saying " what are you keeping your money for, you can't spend it when your gone".
Maybe he has a point there, I have met a lady down there and we seem to enjoy
each others company { she is 6 moths in Florida and 6 months in Montana }.
Possibly my boy is right ???

Hey rbw!!! He sounds ABSOLUTELY right! Life is too short to limit yourself to 3 weeks of enjoying this lady friend!

You are right observer, life is too short, I may have to change my thoughts
for what time is left...

I've always been a believer in enjoying what one can while one can. A dear family member recently told me....".forget shoulda, coulda, woulda. If they can't tell you it is, it ain't. Wrap your head around that and celebrate", so that's what I'm going to do.

You are right gale force, I was always so glad my wife and I did the travelling
we did. We started going south back in the early 70s and went every year except
when my boy was in college, we could hardly eat let alone travel LOL but he
didn't owe a dime when he was done and has a very good job now.

I restarted traveling a year after my wife passed and feel that I have had
a fairly blessed life. I do and have done pretty much whatever I really want to do.

Thats fantastic. Surprising how many people do not help their kids with school when they could realy afford to.

Although FL was not my idea or preference, but that's where we are with lots of good friends around us. Our kids say that our money is ours, not theirs. They are not looking for an inheritance windfall. (Actually, two of the four, imo, could use the extra cash but they are so not materialistic at all.) So at the end of the day, we are in 'summer' mode all year long until we reach the age when health determines we must stay home. This is our second marriage. We love our lives, every aspect of it. The alternative is to sit and home and wait. Wait? Yes, wait for The End. Who wants to do that????
The downside to our life style is that I miss some family events. For me, that's a sad situation. For hubby, not so much.
So I ask you....what do you want to do for the last chapter of your life? It's your choice.
