Christmas baking
Anyone doing any? I've got most of the required stocks in place. Just have to get the inspiration to start!
Just cookies - have never even LIKED Xmas cake; and had gotten away from the cookies until last year, for some reason, until for another unknown reason, I started them again with my grandson.

Not me. One year I made a hundred rolls of apple strudel. (I was really stressed out that year!) In the past I've made a dark rum Christmas fruit cake, some cookies etc. It all depends on my 'time' in life!

Re: Christmas baking
Made up some pie crust a couple weeks ago when the temps were down and did up a couple dozen butter tarts and put them into the freezer. Last week I made a double batch of cheesecake brownies, one for the pot luck Thanksgiving dinner at the hall, and the other for the freezer. Since then its been in the high 70's and that's too warm to bake in my opinion. I saw the forecast for early next week and there was a day or so of low 70 temps so I'm thinking I'll probably do a batch of almond shortbread cookies then. Mincemeat pie is the only other thing that means Christmas for my family so I'll have to look for that when I'm next out shopping.

Cheesecake brownies sounds absolutely amazing. Would you be so inclined to share your recipe?

Well, about 3 days out of every year I wish I were a stay at home mom .... Regardless of my kids' ages! I dont bake a whole lot. Don't mind doing it, just struggle with time.

Re: Christmas baking
I'm always willing to share RT, these brownies are very good, moist, not overly sweet, and freeze well. Will PM you later today.

Re: Christmas baking
You must be pretty wild in the kitchen if you have to vacuum and mop after you bake. Haha!

Re: Christmas baking
When I cook/bake, I always have a glass of wine on the go. Time is not a factor at all and if possible, the music is playing too. The floor has to be spotless when I start AND finish so that means two washings!

Don't think my floor is spotless BEFORE or AFTER or IN BETWEEN! If you want to eat off the floor - don't come to MY house! LOL

Re: Christmas baking
I'm kind of a fanatic about the kitchen floor being clean. It began when my sons were crawling around. Oh wait, I think it began for that....as in when I was born!!
Tonight I have chicken broth simmering on the stove top. Hmmmm hmmm....smells good!
