Speedy summer
Summer seems to be passing me by rather quickly this year. It seems that I just about missed out on the strawberry season, and now fresh veggies are in abundance!! Its time I dug out my recipes for red pepper relish and zucchini relish before that gets away from me too!! Anyone else ready or maybe I should say willing, to do some canning?

Not something I do any more. We don't eat enough of any of those things to make it economically worthwhile - so I get to avoid the kitchen heat of canning while there's summer heat. ... or is there summer heat?

I agree R2. Mid 70's - no humidity - sunshine - cool nights. Who could ask for anything more?

I make jam and that's it. We used to can a ton of stuff, but I work too many hours per week to spend my weekends canning now ... I prefer to enjoy them and do as little as possible on weekends . I'm still taking some courses o a lot of weekends get burnt up in studying anyways ... Hmm.

Re: Speedy summer
Sounds like you are in need of more down time RT. Good luck with those courses.
I went to the farmers market yesterday and was surprised at the number of vendors attending in the outside portion. It sure wasn't as busy with customers or as populated with vendors as it has been in past years. On my quest for reasonably priced red peppers I was told by one gentleman that his peppers weren't ready yet as he had to replant this spring after all the rain we had. I suppose that would explain what I felt to be somewhat high prices.

This weekend I'm starting to prepare for my final exam in my law course, but I'm going to make sure I stop and enjoy a few cocktails by the pool each afternoon for sure!

Good luck with the exam RT.
Have had a busy day. Two loads of laundry, made one batch of peanut butter fudge, two small and two mini loaves of zucchini bread, a batch of zucchini relish, and now in the process of putting together pork stew for supper. I'll have a glass (or maybe two) of wine with my dinner as my reward for a day well spent. Haven't done that much work in one day in a long time!!
