Land Lines
We have given up our telephone land line and switched to VOIP. We take our three portable cell size phones and a router with us wherever we are (city, cottage, FL) and use it for $40 a YEAR. I can't say that the connect is 100% equal to a land line, but fairly close. We were paying $50 a month for Bell, a big waste of money when we only spend three months of the year in the city. Anyone else use VOIP?

Re: Land Lines
have never used it,but it was on the news last week, that 40% or more homes no longer have land line's,and that s why cable company's are able to buy ph.companies,as the ph.companies figure they soon won't be able to have enough money to maintain ph.lines!

Re: Land Lines
My husband just brought home a Magic Jack plus today. I am guessing it's similar to your viop, but not positive.
Sounds like there are mixed reviews on the my, but some of our friends have them and like them. We are only paying about 24 bucks a month for our land line, and don't have much long distance.

Whomever you use for internet server Growler. At the cottage it's Nexicom, in FL it's Comcast and in the city it's Bell.

Re: Land Lines
We pay $63 after taxes for our Bell land line. Actually had a problem with it on the weekend. Bell was out and checked the lines. We had two running to the house from the box. One from the 80's and one from the 50's. 80's one was all corroded and did not work. He hooked the 50's one up and problem solved. Go figure.
