Wish I could hang around for the next big event. I'm only online today as the weather is super awful and too cold to be outside. Read an entire book today. No tv, bummer. Love my tv in the late evening.

Re: Working on a record again
Yes we are Obs. Arrived in the beautiful sunshine Saturday at noon. Firs ones on the island again but another neighbour arrived mid afternoon. Glorious day but Sunday was the pits. Inside all day long, no tv. Did manage to read a light story called Daddy by D. Steele. There were several left here by the former owner.
Thankfully no big trees down. The beavers were very busy this winter. We are missing a good dozen at our end of the island. Blasted varmits!
Just waiting for the sun to take to frost off the dock and then we are out to finish it. It takes a good ten hours to get it all in. I swear we have a small marina sized dock!

Re: Working on a record again
Yes, our dock is taken out of the water for the winter. Ice can be so cruel!
The T part of the dock has an aluminum frame, pulled out of the water with cables and a winch and suspened at about 45 degrees out of the water. However the side dock extensions (36feet long) are put in and out by hand. This is the first year we've done it on our own. Really heavy and awkward. We only managed to do one 12 foot section. Took hours. Didn't even try to put in the sailboat lift today. I think we need some help. Hubby says we can do it just fine.
Spent hours raking the yard today. So much sun I actually have some colour on my face!
Still no running water. We are returning to the city tomorrow for a week and then moving to the cottage for about six months.
According to island lore, this is the earliest arrival time at the cottage in twenty years.

Re: Working on a record again
Dang it! I missed the big 2000. No glitter this time. Dump truck drivers had a heck of a time getting it cleaned off their trucks. And I broke my hole punch so the confetti is pretty limited.
Re: Working on a record again
WOW! Every time you take a break from this site, the records get broken! And, I'm seldom there to witness it.
I don't know who gets the confetti. Does anyone?

Re: Working on a record again
By my convoluted method of counting backwards according to the time of the posts, it seems to me that THE WINNER IS RETIRED!!!!!!
Ta dah! (Joking seemed like a fitting smiley for retired!)
Watch out for the confetti truck, retired!
