Another shooting in Toronto - targetted again, they think. A blurb about the guy n Alberta who hijacked the armed truck and shot 4 people - 3 dead; 1 critical; and Luka whatever is pleading innocent to the murder and descecration he videotaped. THEN - I turn on Simcoe radio -looking for nothing but mindless music - and a guy in Six Nations has been charged with attempted murder.

WHAT is going on around here?

These + the Eaton Centre shooting and Russell Williams & & & - are ALL in Canada! What gives?

I think we are seeing the true nature of humans.

Really, our 'true nature" OMGosh,we are in trouble! I see all of this violence (not for just this year) as a result of too much time on their hands, be it youth or young adults. If you are busy, you don't have time to think about shooting someone. Perhaps a trifle simplistic, but generally true IMO.

Read somewhere that all humans are capable of evil but the good ones keep it in check. Idle hands do the devils work. The two go hand in hand and your comment of being too busy to shoot someone fits the whole theory. Deep down humans are evil immoral beings and it is only our conscience, that little voice in our head that keeps the beast inside from running rampant. Then again maybe I watch too much sci-fi. well i think some of it has got to do with playing video games, you know like i can shoot 69 people in 69 seconds, but my buddy say's he can now do 83, so i'll try again and guess what all 69 of those guy's arn't dead !
now i'm not saying i'm not playing them games to as i've worn out quite a few mouse's,errr mice on soltaire, but i don't kill the kings queens and jacks,i just turn them face down.

For me video games let me get out some aggression. Drive a car around a city crashing into other cars, destroying items. Better to do it in game than real life. Same with first person shooters. Give me a digital gun and let me blast the bad guys in a game rather than real life.

oh yesi agree with you on that, but the young start playing the games before tthey know the difference beetween alive and dead.
so they end up thinking when your dead you have just morphed into a different existence.
they even get them thoughts from some movies, but they are not back to life by just toggling a switch.

I don't know. I remember watching Loony Toons when I was young, likely 4 or 5. I never went out and thought I could jump out of a tree and land splat, get up, dust myself off , and go do something else. Gilligan's Island, Gilligan sure did some stupid things but I never attempted them in real life. Government has been trying for years to tie video game violence to kids and real life violence. So far they have failed to do so. I am a gamer and have been gaming for 30+ years and have a pretty good sized group of real and online friends that I game with on a regular basis. So far none of them have ever attempted to duplicate in game violence. Now or as kids.
