Photo walls
Do you have a photo wall of any sort? A wall where you hang photos of people or events that matter to you?
Just returned from my son's, where he has 4 photo frames - with about 40-50 4x6 photos in total down the hallway to the bathroom. Kinda fun to look at.

Good for you retired. Probably easier to take them down and update them than when they're in frames!

We have a "Family and Grandchildren" large 4'X6' board near the entrance to our rec room. 1 of each of our kids families (9) and individuals of our grandchildren (27).
We just received a new smaller board with the sign "the next generation" on it ... and only 1 Great- Great grandchild on it (so far). 3 more will be added this year (that we know of) ...

Re: Photo walls
At one time in my life, I had a wall of family photos. When I moved, I packed the photos in a box and there they still sit. A new husband, new life and although my hubby would never say not to put them up, I kind of decided that many of them would be strangers to him, all smiling and watching! He didn't have a strong feeling one way or the other about his family members. However, I do have two framed pics of our grandchildren sitting on the buffet.
In August, we are having a family photo from hubby's side and I will most def. hang it in the cottage, where the picture will be taken.
We have many pics of the entire family, just not displayed.
Even though my mother has been gone for 32 years, she died quite young, I still cry when I see her pictures, and my father too, although he's only be gone for six years.

I find it quite interesting which photos my son has chosen to have on display. They are all snaps - not posed - and seem to be chosen for his enjoyment of the photo - rather than for "balancing" which family members are included in the total layout.
He has a recent (about 6 months) new lady friend living with him - and I see she's garnered about 4-5 spots.

Good for her. Claiming her spot in the house/relationship, "our" home.
