Not even five weeks till Christmas. Are you ready? What do you need to do to GET ready? Do you do outdoor lighting or décor? Write Christmas cards? Have a group for Xmas dinner? Shop for dozens?

Most of those things on MY list have diminished over the years - and in most ways I'm happy they have. Husband will STILL want to do the outdoor lighting - and seems that he can't do it without me!!!! Dec. 25 dinner has reduced from over 20 at one time in my life - to about 5 or 6 this year. Cards I'm debating - what with the cost of postage - used to send about 100. Maybe will reduce to just those overseas and those I don't see very often. Gift list has been greatly reduced as well. Can remember a time when there were about 30 or more on my list. NOW, I sometimes wonder how I can be finished already!

Made one purchase so far, nothing too heavy here. Just immediate family. Holidays are pretty low keyed for us.

It's a sad time of year for me as it is for many that are now alone.  Being in Florida helps in the regard that I'm removed from a lot of the things that have always meant Christmas to me......snow being one of them!! LOL
I continue to decorate the house, on a somewhat smaller scale, and thoroughly enjoy making tarts and cookies to give to neighbours and friends. Hubby always took care of the outside decorating so other than hanging a wreath on the front door, that's about it. If I am fortunate to have company staying over the Christmas period I'll put up my artificial tree, but if not, its just gotten to be more work than I want to do. The forecast is for rain today so maybe I'll get out some of those boxes and begin. Love to see the decorations go up, but come January 1st, down they come to be packed away for another year.

Same situation here, like Gail force, being alone rather takes the fun out of it...
Usually go to my son's for a dinner and that is about the high lite of it all..

Yes, I can understand how the joy would be much less when you're now alone.
