OK. - when it's not feast - it's famine!
3. Before the introduction of the hair dryer in 1920, what common household appliance was promoted for its hair-drying ability? Just your first, most logical best guess would probably get this one!
4. Why does the Bronx Zoo get blood daily from a local slaughterhouse? Ditto as the comment for #3
5. What did Lizzie Borden, Napoleon, and Titian have in common? Would it help if I added Carrot Top to the list?

Re: Another weekend brain waker-upper!
4 and 5 are correct - vampire bats and red hair.
I LOVE the concept of sticking your head in the oven to dry your hair! Close the door and turn on the gas! LOL
Just an alternative hair drying machine is what we're still looking for!

OK - the weekend is dwindling away!
If you didn't dry your hair with a machine that blew air out - what other machine that caused air to move rapidly in one direction might you use?

Initially, instead of the oven, I was thinking about the sun and/or natural air.

Re: Another weekend brain waker-upper!
Well - there's air involved - but it's not "naturally flowing". It can suck up dirt - why wouldn't it be able to suck up excess moisture?

Re: Another weekend brain waker-upper!
Based on the above I would say vacuum cleaner.
I remember seeing a non-electric version at the Henry Ford-you pumped it with a handle connected to bellows.Like pumping an organ in church.
We got bogged down in the eternal suck/blow conundrum.

That's why I said Ewww Slowfood. Moisture in a regular vac. cleaner????? I can see the mold growing now, never mind how awkward it would be to use it on your hair!

My shop vac is wet/dry.
If I'm removing a toilet let's say, it is the best for draining the bowl.

Apparently, slowfood, that is exactly what was once touted as a good hair dryer! Makes SOME sense, doesn't it?

But do you want that same shop vac on your HAIR? Perhaps my female genes and long hair are playing a role in this.

Re: Another weekend brain waker-upper!
OK for the big EWWW factor, what about the usage of HOUSEHOLD vacuums as a method for let's say a guy to have a happy ending? There have been resulting emergency room visits.
