Why does every news story about our new premier start out -- "Our first lesbian premier or she is the first lesbian premier" .
We all now know that so give it a rest.

Yes I would. I want the best person for the job and their sexual orientation plays no factor in abilities. Nor do I care.

I think their sexual orientation may make the leaders more aware/sensitive to situations, but that's about all that it would matter to me.

i don't care what type of sex they enjoy,straight,gay, or cheating (as in CLINTON) as long as they do a good job !
but they all are made fun of,so that don't bother me any at all (editorial cartoons are drawn up daily) so making fun of them is just a normal thing,after all they are in the public's eye and know someone,somewhere is going to think their decisions are humourus,wether political or personal,so if it isn't liked they shouldn't be in the public eye !

Although I totally understand your statement Growler, it is my opinion, that this poking fun is a form of bullying. If it is accepted at one level, then that accpetance continues to other levels. I just don't feel the need for poking fun at this situation. But then, my hubby tells me I am too serious about these issues. For example, I laugh at the blonde jokes and admittedly, have my share of 'blonde' moments, but don't we all??/ Call them senior moments? Poking fun at seniors. Usually I shrug it off but really, bullying is there.
