Gas prices
Gas prices down here have just shot up another 5 cents a gallon since Thursday. Regular grade is now $3.59 in my area. When I arrived in November the price was in the $3.15 - $3.20 range, but even went down to $3.02 for a couple of days just before New Years. The latest increase is because some of the refineries have to close for "maintenance".........anyone interested in buying a bridge? So whats happening at home?

Yeah, I heard that too.
Lack of refinery capacity. The oil industry apologist I heard was saying no refineries have been built for a while.
Why do they not want to build any?

Re: Gas prices
It's been quite a while since I had to do any conversion but if my memory serves me right I think it went that there were 3.75 litres to a US gallon, while the Imperial gallon equalled 4.54 litres. My brain has a hard time comparing these apples and oranges but I agree Growler that the US price is still lower that what we pay back home.

i've got,or had a glass that you measured your shots out in at one time rw, if you were a wimp you only filled it to the bottom line, then if you were a squaw you got abit more then a brave a bit more then a 2 feather brave, and so on up to a chief, where you only got about 12 shots out of a 40 oz er! (imperial ounces that is )

Re: Gas prices
Went out this morning and spotted the "new price" at the first gas station I passed. Up again: now at $3.63. That's another 4 cents since Saturday!! I've still got over half a tank in my car and usually fill up when I'm between half and quarter tank. Will I be able to meet the payment if I wait too long!!
Thats an increase of 9 cents a gallon in four days.

Juicing up
You may soon be able to get a real jolt with your morning coffee.
Tim Hortons Inc. today announced a pilot project that enables drivers of electric vehicles to charge up at an outlet in Oakville, Ont.
The pilot is with the Town of Oakville and Oakville Hydro, along with a plug-in thingy from Ford Motor Co. of Canada.
