Tori Stafford Murder Trial

The man accused of killing her is on trial in London - starting today. Re Simcoe Radio, the judge told the jury that they would be hearing some pretty horrific descriptions; and today it was revealed that the little girl was killed by multiple hammer blows.

Another one of those things that is totally beyond the realms of understanding for us normal humans!

I have a tough time wrapping my head around these stories.
My wife says maybe because I had daughters . Maybe, but I cannot even come close to the thought processes involved in this the Stafford case and the Shafia case. Have to remember that 99.9999999% of people don't go down this road.

Her father appears to be remarkably strong. I admire that. I suspect if I were in his shoes, I would be either sooo very angry I wouldn't trust myself to be there, or just crying all the time.

I hope justice prevails and the accused doesn't get off on technicalitites, get a hand slapping, lack of evidence, etc. Seeing too much of that nowadays.

WTH? I cannot imagine how anyone could do that. It boggles the mind. I too hope justice prevails.

Simcoe radio repeatedly broadcast reports of her mother's testimony - but just the part where she said she'd been addicted to Oxycontin and had gone to the home of the girlfriend's mother where she bought some.

I concede that that undoubtedly happened. Just seems to me that it's not terribly relevant to the trial (as in the drug addiction that the mother had - THAT is not what led to the child's murder) - and I kept wishing they'd stop reporting that particular item of information. The woman is undoubtedly feeling badly enough at the loss of her daughter!

The trail goes on, as do the reports. How unbelievably heartbreaking for the family - to hear the horrid details.

So, it seems she originally stated that she had committed the murder - but now, she's denying that.

HORROR! HORROR! HORROR! Whichever of them actually did the deed!

I heard today on the CBC she is taking the fall for him. Don't know why.

Whether she does or not take the fall for MR, she is still one confused, mixed up and sad person. Still guilty. The next few days will probably be very interesting esp. when MR takes the stand, if he does.

We are supposed to be nice here in Canada, but there are times to just go medieval and just say to both of these pieces of human wreckage "Off to the Dungeons".

Presumably, she told him she would take the fall for him, because, she said, he had a job and a life and she was just a junkie, with nothing going for her.

Since she was not "the rapist", one assumes that she didn't maybe get a lot of personal pleasure out of the event - except maybe hoping to please him.

Doesn't matter though - it's depraved!

A breather today from all the sordid details. Something to do with "legalities" that need to be addressed.

I'm sure it's a welcome time out for the jurors - and especially for the family!

The saga goes on. The defense has now put forth their theory - that SHE was the "mastermind" - and HE just helped her cover it up. Don't know if he plans to deny the rape as well.

Really doesn't matter. They're both guilty.

The trial is apparently going to the jury shortly. Hard to imagine any verdict other than GUILTY!

The accused chose not to testify. Should be all over soon!

Imagine how difficult it has been for the parents to live through all of this again!
