I've seen this clip in a collection of cruise ships in heavy seas videos and learned that she died from there.

That clip looked really scary. Would have thought that more items would have been secured so that they didn't slide around quite so much.

The ships don't usually rock that severely. Tables, furniture etc. have to be portable.
On our last cruise I looked at the table we were sitting at in the dining room-not fastened down, but with a very wide base.
It got rough one night, nothing sliding, but really difficult to walk around.
We were near the bow in an oceanview room and waves hit our window once in a while.
On the lower decks in rough seas your window sometimes will go right under water.

Done a few cruises - and gratefully - have never experienced any of those bad seas. And to be honest - have never really checked how many items are fastened down securely!

Kinda interesting that the TV in your hotel room is bolted down - but a lot of the stuff on a ship is not! LOL

We had one like that a few years ago out of New York, waves about as bad as you could get but nothing seemed to move around . Some of the crew were getting sea sick. I really wonder if that video was a fake or a really small boat. I don't think you would see that on a cruise ship.

about rough water going over the windows, i had the pleasure (?) of watching a video that an aquaintence recorded while on his yaught in a tropical storm in the pacific back in about 1990 !
he had a camera mounted on the interior of the craft, and you could see the water engulfing the entire boat, as well as see items flying through the interior of it !
it was fairly new (1-1.5 yrs.)and custom built in b.c., out of aluminum, and built to be self righting during times like these, and a good thing to !
but he and his wife ended up being quite bruised up, bu with no major injury's.
he had edited it to about 2 hours, but the trop.storm had them for almost 48 hr.s.
they were glad to have survived !

and this boat,at least in the 90's was docked in dover in the summer !

My wife has come back from Erie to Dover more than once with a rail in the water. 35 foot sailboat.
The ship in the clip is the Pacific Sun.The ship is a 47,000 ton ship , holding 1900 passengers plus crew,a medium size ship at 733 feet in length . The cruise in the clip occurred in June 2008.
At that time she sailed under the P&O flag. The ship was originally built for Carnival.

I too have come back from Erie to Turkey Point in water that had things really rocking - and shaking - and shimmering! Part of life in the "wet lane" LOL
