Peace in Syria
Will this last? Or is the Syrian leader just playing some game? He hasn't lived up to the rest of the terms of the ceasefire agreement - just stopped the shelling today.

Re: Peace in Syria
Some op/eds I've read suggest that they think the present dictator will come out of this still in power. Assad, is it? You'd think I'd have seen his name enough times to remember! He's such a smug, slimy looking man, in my opinion - but looks shouldn't be what decides his future - his actions should.
Presumably what actually WILL decide his future, however, will be his power.

Re: Peace in Syria
Yes it would be nice if a lasting peace finally did come. But ever since the beginning I wondered who was "morally" right. True you shouldn't resort to violence of innocent civilians. But...just because protestors turn out en masse and demand change, do they speak for the whole country? If those "occupy protests" here in north america kept getting bigger and bigger and became more and more disrupting, would they HAVE to be listened to? And obeyed? True, democracy in syria...or anywhere actually...seems good and right and wholesome...but is it "morally" imposeable with force?
