If your child was in Gr. 7 & the principal came up with a plan to go see this movie as the class trip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPMJrM_lQew

A: What's your thoughts on this class trip?

B: Would you let your child go?

C: Why or why not?

Just wondering...class trips sure have changed since I was in school!

That is totally horrible in my opinion.  The movie itself if far to violent, and promotes the "killing doesn't hurt".  I couldn't watch this trailer to the end, it was making me sick to my stomach.
No, I would not allow my child to go on the "field trip", and I'd be voicing my objections very loudly, and very clearly to the school principal and the school board and anyone else who would listen.

Gale Force, I agree with you completely!  My daughter & her hubby said no way is she going, but my grandaughter beat them to it & said I don't want to go see that garbage. We are thinking the reason behind the school trip to see the movie is becasue one of the students in the school is in the movie!  To me, sorry, that's still not a good enough reason to subject these children to such vilolence.  It's bad enough that it happens in every day life...why give kids more reason to think "it's ok"!  Are we not to be protecting our children from such rot?  Not sure where this principal is coming from & yes I did suggest to my daughter that she go higher up & put in a complaint as I am sure  many parents have already voiced their disgust!

Kolten Stewart is in it.
Kind of like Lord of the Flies modernized.
In other countries children of this age regularily carry similar weapons-Child Soldiers.
I would let my children go. We would also discuss it.
My one daughter read "Christine" at a very young age. No problems. Not much censorship at our house.
I think the girls benefitted from this- able to face the real crazy world out there.

EL,i agree with the way you feel, about the thing about not censoring what my kids had to read (reading anything available to them) but i did say that anything unavailable to me or them, that was known to be against the law should be avoided.(porn of all types, etc.)
and mine grew to be normal kids with respect for all things and people, except me of coarse(lol)!
and although i jokingly said i want to play as well,i do dis-like this.
but i dis-like a lot of things, like most horror flicks, with chainsaw massacre,(even though i have met,and became friends with an actor from that movie)and another i dislike is the original night of the living dead,(even though i went to one of the first local showings of it),
but i never said they couldn't watch them.
