Is there hope for mankind?
Just learned of the latest madman's desire the kill their fellows. This time at an elementary school in Conneticutt. I understand that 27 people have been killed - including 18 young children who will never have the chance to reach their potential. I feel sick to my stomach. What is wrong with us?

Re: Is there hope for mankind?
i just read it a bit ago, and dislike it so much, that i'm like gf and feel sick !
and it makes me wonder what some are thinking about when they complain about stuff?
last week the school down near port rowan, and acouple weeks before that at the high school in delhi they had an emergency drill, and had the schools do a lock dowwn, with the students staying out of sight in the classrooms, or in gymnasium storage locker rooms, and in large closets, and afterwards when the parents were told they were outraged, called the county offices, the schoolboard offices, the schools, the principals, the news papers, and radio station complaining it was unnecesary,a waste of time, scared the kids, and that the kids and parents should have been told in advance so they could tell these kids when it was going to happen and some said they would come and take their kids out while they had the drill etc.!
now did they tell the parents today they were going to be killed so they didn't get scared,or was it a waste of time getting the kids ready to go into somewhere safe to prevent being killed ?
like why would you get upset with your school tryying to get the kids ready for something that might keep them safe when/if something like this happened in this area ?
i just get so upset that people resist using some preventative measures !
sorry to run on like this !

Your points should be well taken Growler. I hadn't heard of the drill taking place at the schools up north, but after listening to some of the parents and children involved in todays happening, thank god some of those teachers knew exactly what needed to be done.

Well said growler. Parents get on the defensive, but in today's society we need to be on the defensive!

Re: Is there hope for mankind?
some are saying that gun control would be of help to prevent this type of event from happening?
but i question that for a few facts that are evident. first the guns used were regularly used for target practice.
next they wwere registered.
and the owner was/is known (plus was/is a teacher!)
and the shooter was trained to use these weapons by the owner,in a licensed gun club.(legal location)
and in a state that is very restrictive on hand guns.
and quite likely were stored in a safe storage area/place .
and it was a place that was known to be a local gun advocate.
so basicly these guns could have been in any persons (law abiding) home in ontario !
so i don't think there is any gun law that would/could have changed this?
and there were mass killings even before guns were invented wern't there?
and the criers are saying he was a mentally challenged individual, but these same citizens are saying the shooter was shy, reserved, extremly intelligent bordering on being a genius.
and his brother must be extremly smart as well, being 24 years old,and worhing for a major accounting firm, and living away from home.
and then the shooter having his brothers id,probably was used so he could go to bars and other licenced establishments for a bit of drink?
and may have been used as id for buying the ammunition used in these shootings ,which is also restricted(bullets) by the state!
and aren't all killers suffering from some type of mental problems, except those that are defending themselves or family and friends?
so how can you tell the ones who are going to kill from the ones who just don't fit in?
i feel very bad about what happened and i don't own any guns, so i'm not trying to justify someone that owns/uses them but trying to just find what we can do to prevent things like this from happening !

Re: Is there hope for mankind?
Using basic logic this T Shirt shows a nasty and vindictive supreme being.
i.e. he punished the children at this particular school for not allowing prayer there.
Hope he doesn't do it again.

Re: Is there hope for mankind?
There is little that can be done to protect us against random acts by nut jobs.
There would have to be checkpoints and random searches everywhere. We don't like this sort of thing.So... how do you prevent/solve this?
Interestingly in China I recall two school massacres there using knives-guns not that available there.

Re: Is there hope for mankind?
Growler .
One of my customers was present there at that time.
He said the key point in getting the guns away from the people before they got rolling was through a gun registry.
Food for thought.
