RCMP emails reveal tension as force faces changes
just a bit of news about the way the current crop of law enforcers think about change !
if you read a few of the comments after the article, you might think that JIM WHITE was a pretty good guy to have around to enforce the law,and to not be complained about so much !
here's a link to it.

The RCMP, OPP, Surete du Quebec, and the large metropolitan police forces have long been infected with the same macho-male, bully-type philosophy throughout their ranks. They believe they are entitled. They see themselves as special and they close ranks around each other. Having them 'police' themselves serves their priorities quite well...looking after #1.
'To Serve & Protect' is a catchy slogan, but many of them are more interested in protecting their privileged turf than they are serving the public and protecting the average citizen.
First amongst these quasi-military organizations is the RCMP. They have the worst case of this attitude. How do you get rid of it? You don't. It won't happen. The bad apples will just become more careful. They aren't about to give up and change the way they do things. This has been entrenched in the mindset of these organizations since day one. It's not about to change..
and the above is just one of the comments !

Re: RCMP emails reveal tension as force faces changes
yes he is a great guy,i couldn't agree more !
i think jim was the first cop that i actually got to know and respect.
the kind of cop we need today, tough on bad guy's but very fair and honest ! willing to admit to a mistake that he or you made but a very tough guy on anyone that figured they could just slip one past you or him !
i used to tell him his county police car was slow and he always said "well let me catch you speeding one day and then you will know how fast it is!"
well one night while being parked beside him another guy that jim had warned about driving fast through langton went by at about 20 mph over the limit and jim said "i've got to get him !"
and took off chasing this guy so i turned around and started following them.
well after about 4 miles i caught up to jim and as i was going a bit faster i pulled up beside him,and he looked over at me gave me a sour look, wagged his finger at me pointing to the rear, so i slowed down, and turned around and went home. felt pretty good to !
later the next day he came to the garage i worked at, had a coke and said "i don't ever want you trying to pass me again!" so as i was smiling and almost laughing i said,oh i won't have to pass you jim as i'll be in front and out of sight !
well even he grinned then, but said seriously "if i come in here early next week can i get the cruiser tuned up as i think it needs it" so i said ok !
we never talked about who was fastest after that !
but several opp's said to me we hear your car is very fast,at least thats what white say's !
so nowadays i bring it up to him on days he gets acting depressed !
if you know jim,i'm sure he'd enjoy a visit,in here(nhnh) or on odd days he volunteers at the info desk at ngh.
