What's your home town?
Just curious where most of our active members grew up - or live presently.
I'm not very exciting. Grew up 4 miles south of Delhi; moved away for a short period. Live in Delhi.

Re: What's your home town?
I have always envied people such as Retired and Observer. To live in one place for a major portion of your life must be amazing. In my younger years I know that I did not live in the same place for more than five years at a time. Most of those moves took place in Northern Ontario. My family moved to London, then Windsor and more or less settled there for my last few years of high school, and stayed in place for about 10 years. The next move was to Simcoe, and here I've been for more than 30 years!!

But, gale, you forgot to mention that your ALTERNATE home seems to be somewhere in Florida! LOL - whereabouts, there, by the way. Not that I NEED to know!

My alternate home is giving me trouble these days, perhaps that's why I've forgotten to mention it. A vacation home can sometimes be troublesome and this year it appears I have a leak on my roof, around a ventilation tube, that results in a messy stain on my guest bathroom ceiling, a leak under my kitchen sink, and another leak coming out from underneath my side by side refrigerator!! All this within the last few days! Granted we did have two days of torrential rain here on the Florida Suncoast, five miles from the Gulf and forty miles north of Clearwater.

Most of the "war brides" who came to Canada came originally from England I think?

We moved several times when I grew up also. Kelvin, Norwich, west of Simcoe, St Williams. Then I left home and lived in St Williams, booth's Harbour, Vittoria, Courtland, Delhi, Jericho, and now west of Simcoe.

Observer, you may not have lived far from your roots but you sure have travelled!
I was born in Brantford, moved to Simcoe for 47 years, to Burlington for another decade, to Kishgo Island for three and sometimes in live FL, between Naples and Fort Myers.

Good to find you revisiting your "Norfolk roots", kishgo. Haven't seen you here for a while. Must be getting the shopping opportunities out of your system! LOL
As for travelling - yes, have done a bit - some of it in the best of times. Some of the places would be "iffy" to go back to today - Egypt being one of them.

Re: What's your home town?
Actually we've hardly done any shopping in the three weeks we've been here. A bit her and there of course but we have learned that this is the winter season in FL. The clothing stores carry heavy sweaters, faux fur scarves etc. Not sure why. It's still over 70 degrees during the day and at night about 10 degrees less.
We've just been having fun!

Re: What's your home town?
I think that 20 degrees between the 90+ all summer, down into the 70's, and gasp, even the 60's, is something Floridians find hard to handle. Had to laugh at a picture of the nephew and his family visiting a Santa park taken last week when the temp was just below 70 - he had a jacket and jeans on!!

Seems most of us have our roots in this general area, regardless of where we might now be located. ... or, at least, those of us who have responded!
I would expect that most members are present residents of the Norfolk area.

Re: What's your home town?
No, we've done plenty of that over the years. Since we've met hubby and I have went through 10 houses (only lived in 8 of them).
I was referring to freedom 55 and six months per year in sunny Arizona or Florida.
