Assisted Suicide Empty Assisted Suicide

Post by Ruby Tuesday Mon Oct 13, 2014 8:02 am

Looks like this topic is coming up in front of the Supreme Court of Canada. There a lot of US states that are now allowing it .... It's only a matter of time.

Personally, I support it, as long as the appropriate approval measures are in place first. IE, meeting condition of being terminally ill, suffering, etc.

I agree, Ruby. As is sometimes said, "We treat out animals more humanely when they're suffering".

I agree also. I do not want to be kept alive just to lie in bed and be a burden to others. Of course there has to be rules in place

If all avenues have been exhausted and there is no hope and I am in my later years of life, I'm in too.

It must be a heartbreaking and heart wrenching decision for families, simply because the end is at hand.

Assisted Suicide Empty Re: Assisted Suicide

A young woman of 29 apparently took her life just recently. Terminal brain cancer. She moved to a different state where assisted suicide was allowed, in order to be sure that she would be able to do so.

Thoughts?

Too bad she had to move and could not have it done at home.

I thought that too. Much more difficult to have family and friends easily accessible.

Have been following her story & I see it ended on the weekend. So sad! I also agree that it's too bad the whole family had to uproot to spend her last few months with her and then the assisted death.

My sister in law spent the last 8/9 years of her life laying
in a nursing home.
She had a stroke that left her unable to use one side of her
body and that brought on Alzheimer's.
She had to have assistance to do anything and knew no one
including her own family..
That is no way to end life....

So true. I think in part because we live with them 24/7 and get to see first hand how they suffer.

When you have no quality of life then I think you need the option to end it. Why be stuck in a failing body day after day unable to do anything for yourself?

Totally sad, and terrible to think that people have this kind of stuff happen. Cruel world sometimes.
