Technology
Today's technology was demonstrated for me today by my great nephew. He brought me a "smart phone" and tried to show me all the wonderful things I could do with it. I asked him to show me how to download an "app", but it turned out that the one I wanted couldn't be done on my brand new phone!! Then I asked if the weather "app" could be programmed for more than one location. Well, we found out that the weather "app" that comes preloaded does not recognize Simcoe Ontario Canada.....guess we don't exist in that particular "app", so he downloaded another, utilizing the weather app that he uses on his phone, so now I can find the forecast for both my northern and my southern homes, if I remember to go to the third page of the "app" menu. My brain had to take a rest and he had to leave and travel back home, so I guess I'll travel tomorrow on my own (fingers crossed) exploring some more of todays technology!! I'm pretty sure more instruction will be required!

These new "toys" sometimes provide more information than is required...
But they are amazing, how did we ever get along without them..??

They are getting easier and easier to use all of the time too. They are making them smart alright!

Well RT, it's a pretty good thing that one of us is! I have the darndest time just trying to "tap" properly to make the required selection!! But, to be fair, I remember when I first used a mouse.......I was all over the map. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it but I feel very foolish right now.

I'm loving the option of using the words the "smartie" comes up with!
I did much better this morning using the phone held in my hand, rather than skittering across a counter top while plugged in to charge!

I'm with you Retired and RBW. I didn't buy this gadget, it was a gift from a family member, even after I voiced my reluctance. I have a cell phone that I bought probably five or six years ago, with the idea I would have it for emergencies: it's been used twice!!

Re: Technology
Up until a bit ago, we had two flip phones, one for the north and one for south. We now have a Smart phone 5 c, or something like that. I really really like it. Life is so much easier. Quick texts, better reception, maps in case we don't want to take the 'scenic route' (and we usually don't anymore!), Google, etc. I wish we had this kind of phone years ago. Do you remember the size of the first cell phones? One person to hold the phone and another to enter the numbers. We've come a long way baby!
