Kishgo, you are in Fld. already. You left us and never even said goodbye. We don't even have snow yet. Watch out got those sinkholes.
We will think of you down there playing in the sand while we shovel the white stuff

Yes, Retired2 , we've been here for a week. It's been about 31 degrees c or 88 to 90 F and a tad humid but not too uncomfortable. The breeze compensates for the heat.
Everything at our condo is fine. Our home watch fellow told us our fridge started begin extra noisy two weeks ago and he is most certainly correct. However, the appliance repairman couldn't find a thing wrong with it except the noise. So we are going to live with these ugly black appliances for a while longer. (Can you tell how much I love them????) But we still have furniture to purchase, I guess both would be too much to ask. I say that TIC. Hubby always seems to have $$$ for his projects! LOL

We are returning to Canada in Dec., loading up a 6 x 12 UHaul and bringing down lots of accessories now in storage from our city house, which we sold in Oct. That will save some money too. Those accessories, such as mirrors, really add up.

We trailered our antique car behind our SUV this time so we have two cars here. After the house was sold, we needed a place for it ( I said Sell it!!) so now it's in FL

I haven't really left you R2. Just haven't been on this forum very often. Since May, it seems all I have done is sort items (Cottage, Storage, Goodwill, Consignment, Kids, Garbage) and then transfer them to the right location and if at the cottage, unpack again.

We have four alligators, a couple of otters, one panther, snakes, and geckos around. So far I've spotted two alligators in the pond behind us. Our unit is a second floor so when I'm out on the lanai, I'm safe enough as is our dog.

Nice to be missed. I promise to check in more frequently!

what kind of car did you trailer to fl. kish ?
he could have given it to me to use (abUSE?).
and if he likes to go to cruise nights, to show it off, quite a drive, but the best one I know of, except Woodward, is sat night at old towne in Kissimmee fl. all year round.
even a few canuck cars go to it every winter!
have a great winter !

We trailered our 1971 SS 454 Chevelle convertible to FL Growler. There are a couple of local car shows but after attending one the other day, there's not a chance in this world we will 'show' our car. It's a trophy winner in ON but not here. The cars are beyond impeccable! However, we are not aiming for a show time any more. It's just a car to have for a second if necessary and for cruising. We've been to Woodward a few times but only as observers. "The Group" used to go every year for about ten but times, people and interests change.
1971 hardly seems to be an antique to me. I remember that year too well! Does that mean I'm an antique too? LOL

I know a guy near west lorne (close to the 401)that has 1 of 2 copo 1970 nova's built as proto types for the yenko guy in the usa,but never had disc brakes on them.
so they got shipped to central chev/olds in London.
they both got sold, and were drove for about 20 years, and one got into an accident and the insurance wrote it off,and the wrecking yard sent the ownership back in.
but his got parked beside a barn in kent county,as it had over 200,000. miles on it.
he bought it to build a hot rod out of.
but when he took the motor apart he seen it had solid lifters, domed pistons, etc. in it.
so he went back to all the owners asking why?
so h found out it was like that from the factory,a ls1,350,4 spd,4.11,12 bolt posi.
so he contacted gm in Canada, and they sent a guy out to check it over and to try to buy it if he could.
but after verifying it as a copo, and the last survivor in Canada,he kept it and restored it.
gm Canada even helped him to do it.
so he has had it in several magazines, many exhibits, many super chevy show's and drag events, and all kinds of other stuff.
he was offerd a 1/4 million for it from some guy in the us,bbut didn't sell as far as I know.
his insurance co. made him build a separate building to store it in,made out of cement blocks, with fire retardant materials through-out.
but it still burns rubber !
is the 454 ss,numbers matching ?

BTW:his last name is simpson, but his first name isn't bart.

Interesting Spid. My hubby uses both terms and here's why:
•Antique car. An antique car is a classification that is often set by state law. States often have a special type of license plate for these cars. For that reason they set rules stating what qualifies as "antique." In most cases it is a car that's over 45 years old. Generally the car should be maintained in a way that keeps it true to the original manufacturer specifications
•Classic car. This classification definitely overlaps with antique cars. The definition of classic car is actually quite similar to that of antique cars. A car must be at least 20 years old, but not more than 40 years old to be considered a classic car. It should again have been repaired and maintained in a way that keeps it true to its original design and specifications. In other words it should not be modified or altered. In addition, many add a stipulation that the vehicle should have been manufactured no earlier than 1925. For these reasons all classic cars are also antique cars, but not all antique cars are classic cars
•Vintage car. There is also overlap between vintage cars and antique cars. Some vintage cars quality as antique cars, but not all vintage cars are antique and vice versa. Different groups set different cut off points for what qualifies as a vintage car and what does not. Generally, cars that are considered Vintage were manufactured between the years of 1919 and 1930, but some end it at 1925. Unlike the other two classifications, having had modifications does not necessarily keep a car from being a vintage car

Why should this be easy!?!

I just can't bring myself to call them antiques. Makes them feel very old.

I have to agree with you Spidubic. I think of myself as 'classic' not antique and NO arguments from the peanut gallery please. Chuckle chuckle

I like them very much, and even though I was young when they were built, I still feel they are not old enough to be antiques.
and some including my family say I am going through my second childhood. I wish to correct any others who think that, as I've never left my first childhood, so how can I be in my second one?
