What (or who) is your pet?
We're petless for the moment - and have been for quite a few years now, since our last cat died.
We like dogs - but never owned one as we both went out to work - and just felt our life style would be unfair to a dog - and maybe to us as well, if we didn't get home in time for the twice daily "outing".
Got our first cat in 1967 - a ginger coloured stray that my sister had found somewhere. Ginger cats are almost always male - so we named this one George. George went on to have 3 litters of kittens before she got killed crossing the highway - leaving 4 unweaned kittens who hadn't yet gotten their eyes open. With the help of some info from somewhere that I don't remember - and a nurse friend who had access to large syringes - we raised those kittens to the age of self sufficiency. We put baby formula (if I remember correctly) into that syringe - and attached a tube - inserted that in the kitten's mouth - and depressed the plunger. (We didn't have as much time to wait as a mother cat) The kittens would plump out rather quickly.
Then, one had to take paper towel or something, and gently wipe the genitals to encourage urination and defecation. (Mother cats lick them, right? - so there was never any "waste" in the kittens' nest).
We ended up finding homes for 2 - and keeping 2 - Hollyhock and Heathcliffe. Heathcliffe, a "true" male, just didn't come home after a night out one time. Holly blessed us with 3 more litters of kittens - till we figured out what was causing it - and had her neutered. She lived 18 years - and it was a real trauma when we had to put her down.

What isn't a pet.
We have three dogs. Sebastian, a chocolate lab. Ruby, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Finnegan, a Dashund.
We have three cats. Ester, Bubbles, and Squeak.
Two birds. Beanie and Cecil.
A leopard Gecko named LG.
I think that is all.

Sshhhh...we have a dog but we haven't told him yet. Riley is our six year old soft wheaten terrier. He just thinks he's one and equal to the family members. When our grandkids come over and 'line up' for a snack in the kitchen, he sits at the end of the line. When they take a toy out of the toy box, he does as well. Then I hear "Grandma, Riley has my toy!" So they've learned to put one of his toys in their toybox. He loves kids. However, after living with three of them for a week, he was mighty tired and slept the next two entire days upon arriving home.
Wheaten start out with black/dark brown fur. By the time they are two, they have changed their coat to the colour of golden wheat.
Bonus...he doesn't shed nor is he much of a barker except lately when someone comes to the door.

Obs...putting down a beloved pet is one of the most heartbreaking things we have to do sometimes. It's never easy.

Dog, Cat and Rat...................
This is a video of a homeless man in Santa Barbara and his pets. They work
State Street every week for donations. The animals are pretty well fed and are
mellow. They are a family.
The man who owns them rigged up a harness for his cat so she wouldn't have to
walk so much (like the dog and himself). At some juncture the rat came along,
and as no one wanted to eat anyone else, the rat started riding with the cat
and, often, on the cat!
The dog will stand all day and let you talk to him and admire him for a few chin scratches.
The Mayor of Santa Barbara filmed this clip and sent it out as a holiday card.
A great video . . . Click on the link below:

Holly in one of her not-uncommon positions.
Perhaps because she was a tube-fed kitten?

Obs...that's a most unusual position. I had to get my reading glasses to be sure I was seeing the pic correctly!

Mom is a Golden Retriever, dad is a Poodle.
Her littermate lives here in Simcoe too.
She will pose for a picture as you can see.

Good choice. Smart, non shedding, friendly! I often wonder if dogs know their parents/siblings if they've been away from them for a long time. Riley, our wheatie thinks all wheatens are his kin. It's a wagathon when they see each other!
