Study for a new mega complex Empty Study for a new mega complex

So I see there's a group that want to hire someone to do a study on whether or not to build a new mega type sports compex for Norfolk County. I would think that all the smaller arenas and such might not then get used because everyone will want to use the new one (can't blame them).

Finding use for buildings that get obsoleted will be quite a task.

The area is tooo big for that, it will only serve the people in the immediate area while the whole county will be paying for it

Rural dwellers still have access to the amenities, even though it takes longer to arrive at the destination. Simcoe is the 'hub' of the county so that's where these sort of buildings are built.

That's not necessarily true. The doors are open and they have equal access, but sometimes proximity prohibits. If I lived out Frogmore way I wouln't drive to Simcoe for recreation. It's too long of a drive on weeknights with probably a one hour each way road trip. It's just that the distance makes it so it's not "practical". It's obvious that it will be built where the population exists.

Again, it's just that at a certain point it's not practical for some folks, yet they still have to pay for it.

Kind of along the lines of winning a $100 gift certificate to a restaurant that's 6 hours away. Are you going to drive 6 hours there/back to use the gift certificate, or is it far enough that you wouldn't bother?

I too question the need for this mega complex. Wouldn't it just mean that the existing stuff - the pool, the arenas, the arts centers - which already exist in Simcoe- in various buildings - would become obsolete? - as in another vacated building with no other obvious use?
